FZ COLLECTION’S VALUE CHAIN

RAW MATERIALS EXTRACTION FROM SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES:

 FOREST – WHY WE CARE

  • Our raw materials come only from sustainable origins.
  • Wood is sourced using responsible extraction methods from legally harvested forests.
  • No wild fauna or flora is used in our pieces.

FOREST -WHAT WE DO

  • We work with suppliers who have timber products with License FLEGT (Forest Law Enforcement, Government and Trade), CITES License, thus complying with EC Regulation No. 338/97 and EC Regulation No. 865/2006.
  • We require our suppliers to have FSC Certification, thereby ensuring that our products come from responsible sources.
  • We require our suppliers to have the PEFC Certificate, thereby ensuring that our products originate only from sustainable farms and certified forests.
  • We strive for no-paper projects, implementing actions that dramatically reduce the use of paper.

WATER – WHY WE CARE

  • With water being a limited resource, subject to over-use, numerous pollutants, and a growing world population, its use in furniture and lighting design and production must be limited and responsible.
  • We ration water throughout the production process.

WATER – WHAT WE DO

  • We use equipment that reduces water consumption such as flow-reducing taps, pressure taps, flushing water conservation and other mechanisms.
  • We maintain our internal water network (taps and pipes) in order to avoid water loss.

ENERGY- WHY WE CARE

  • Reducing energy consumption reduces the consumption of natural resources
  • Energy consumption directly impacts ecosystems.
  • The misuse of compressed air and gas unnecessarily consumes and wastes energy.
  • In order to achieve maximum efficiency with minimal energy consumption, producers need to be vigilant in monitoring for the existence of infrastructure leaks of air and gas.

ENERGY – WHAT WE DO

  • We use clean energies, such as propane gas.
  • We continually monitor our energy consumption, and strive to reduce our footprint wherever possible.
  • We use photovoltaic panel systems for solar energy.
  • We use LED lamps and schedule maintenance through lamp group replacements ensuring efficient lighting.
  • We maintain a rigorous schedule to detect energy leaks in our air and gas infrastructure systems.
  • Our air and gas infrastructure system has been designed to monitor for and detect pressure drops between compressors and gas reservoirs and energy  consumption points.

MANUFACTURING AND PRODUCTION:

AIR AND NOISE EMISSION – WHY WE CARE

  • Fluorinated gases (CFH, PFC, and SF6) contribute to global warming
  • Solvent chemical use negatively impacts human and environmental health.

AIR AND NOISE EMISSION -WHAT WE DO

  • We strictly comply with the maintenance schedule for all cabin filters
  • We never exceed regulated emission limits.
  • We replace solvent-based paints and varnishes with water-based paints and varnishes.
  • We do not use refrigeration equipment that contains harmful fluorinated gases.
  • Our machinery and equipment is fully compliant with noise regulations.
  • We ensure that activity in the factories does not disturb the quality of life in the surrounding community.
  • Our facilities are located in low-impact geographical areas
  • We invest in electric vehicles

TRANSPORTATION:

LOGISTICS – WHY WE CARE

  • The daily movement of product burns fossil fuels and releases harmful gases into the atmosphere.

LOGISTICS – WHAT WE DO

  • We strictly manage our supply chain in order to reduce our carbon footprint
  • We repair products whenever necessary at local facilities in order to reduce wasteful transportation activity

UTILIZATION REUSE :

CUSTOMER IMPACT -WHY WE CARE

  • The classification of reusable products and packing has a competitive and sustainable advantage over other products.

CUSTOMER IMPACT – WHAT WE DO

  • We reduce the amount of plastic used in our packaging and replace it with fabric scrap

DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING:

WASTE: WHY WE CARE

  • The treatment or elimination of excess waste reduces a negative ecological footprint.
  • Efficient processes reduce the generation of waste.
  • Contaminated waters result in significant costs in remediation.

WASTE: WHAT WE DO

  • We track materials throughout their life cycles, monitoring and labeling parts for maximum reuse and recycling.
  • We ensure strict compliance with all regulations relating to waste products.
  • We recover and responsibly dispose of all solvents from cleaning machines, spray guns, and accessories

Collaboration with Tiger Leather:

RAW MATERIALS:

Please be advised, the raw materials used by Tiger Leather are a byproduct of the beef industry. No cow is harvested for the hide alone.

MANUFACTURING AND PRODUCTION PROCESS:

CONTROL OF MANUFACTURING PROCESSES − Tiger Leather is committed to reducing the presence of chemicals in the manufacturing process. No solvent-based products are used in the finishing process so that only a natural product is produced. The tannery is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified – these are among the highest certifications that a tannery can receive for responsible manufacturing.

CHROME MANAGEMENT − Tiger Leather recycles the Chromium (III) salts used in the tanning process.

TRACEABILITY OF MATERIAL − For quality assurance, Tiger Leather’s tannery inspects all purchased materials. Add to that, several phases of its own industrial process are monitored from both the managerial and technical points of view. Lastly, all manufactured hides are carefully examined. In order to perform suitable QC, Tiger’s tannery incorporated an internal chemical / physical laboratory that is ICEC/TS 406 certified.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS − Tiger Leather inspects its hides for chemical compliance and the quality levels set forth in the Quality Control (QC) regulations. Outgoing products are tested according to the strict protocols of Quality Control. Leather ‘Made in Italy’ serves as a warranty for consumers that they are purchasing a top grade product free of harmful chemicals and compatible with social and environmental equity.

AIR AND NOISE EMISSION:

AIR EMISSIONS − Tiger Leather only uses water-based and water-soluble finishes. Tiger Leather products are Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) certifiable-ready and can help toward earning the Low-Emitting Materials / Systems Furniture and Seating LEED credit (1 point).

WASTE:

MANAGEMENT OF RESTRICTED SUBSTANCES − Tiger Leather’s tannery has a chemical-physical purification plant that performs a pre-treatment of the waste waters before re-introducing them into the management system. The plant’s and tannery’s onsite purification systems are periodically subject to preventive maintenance in order to ensure functionality.

WASTE MANAGEMENT (HAZARDOUS AND NON-HAZARDOUS) − Tiger Leather’s proprietary tannery utilizes a water purifying and recycling facility that was built on tannery grounds. The laboratory controls waste water to ensure that the strictest Eurozone compliance standards are met. Additionally, the lab systems are routinely analyzed to limit potential impact on the environment.

ADDITIONAL ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PRACTICES:

− Biodegradable wetting agents for soaking
− Reduced sulfide processing
− Non-synthetic or polymeric retannage systems − Optimized dyestuffs
− Vegetable oil-based fatliquors
− Improved finishing systems to reduce waste

Leather is a naturally long life material and highly durable which means an extended life, reduced need for replacement and cost efficiency.

FZ Collection  reserves the right to change materials without notice, but will always and relentlessly pursue goods and services that comply with the strictest sustainability standards in the industry.
